Magnolia Adds Timely YA to 2020 Lineup

Books that tackle tough issues—issues that need to be talked about—is not something Magnolia shies away from. With this in mind, we’ve signed Marie Patlán’s Fight and Flight with anticipation of a summer 2020 release. Pitched as Just Listen meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Fight and Flight follows biracial teen Callipoe Hanes as she struggles to fit into her small North Carolina town. She does what can to stay under the radar, but she’s forced into the spotlight when she makes the decision to take on the town’s golden-boy after he attacks at a party.

Dealing with themes of grief, identity, and trauma, Fight and Flight follows one girl’s fight not just for justice, but to find her voice, and forge a path towards healing.
