Magnolia adds YA Urban Fantasy to 2019 Collection

Speculative fiction is making a home at Magnolia Press as we add Nicole Rubino’s YA Urban Fantasy to the collection. Currently titled The Witch City, Rubino’s novel was pitched as American Horror Story: Coven meets The Craft and is the first title in a planned series. Rubino’s novel takes place in Salem, Massachusetts and gives new explanations to the purpose of the Salem Witch Trials.

Rubino’s manuscript was discovered during September’s #PitDark pitch event on Twitter.

About Nicole:
Ever since Nicole was old enough to pick up a pen, she began writing stories. She remembers fondly Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach as the first book she read to take her on an adventure, and thus fell in love with writing fantasy. Her equal love for history propelled Nicole to delve further into the witch hunts throughout Europe and the witch trials in Salem, giving her the idea for her debut novel.

Nicole received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York. (James Patterson went there!). She lives in Westchester, New York with her husband, son, and a dangerously overflowing bookshelf.
